To be eligible for a grant from the NPTA Fund, the following requisites apply:
- The applicant is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
- The applicant is not a school, part of a school system, supporting organization or foundation or government entity.
- If the applicant is a religious-affiliated organization, it must demonstrate that it operates a social service program that is open to the public and involves no required religious activities for participants.
- The offices of the nonprofit are located in Kent County.
- The organization serves primarily Kent County residents.
- In general, the organization should have a minimum of two years in operation. However, exceptions will be considered, including organizations in the start-up phase.
- The applicant’s annual operating budget is less than $2 million.
- Organizations may exclude the value of in-kind donations from their total operating budget.
- Organizations may also exclude pass-through grant amounts if it can be demonstrated as such.
- The organization must not currently have a grant open with the Nonprofit Technical Assistance Fund. A maximum of $10,000 will be granted per organization per calendar year. Generally, we do not fund in two consecutive years.
- The applicant can demonstrate that grant funding will contribute to a higher, sustainable level of community service pursuant to its mission.
- Joint projects or collaborations are encouraged. A maximum of $15,000 may be considered for collaborative projects but must be submitted as one jointly crafted proposal.
- We encourage a diversity of financial support in proposals brought to the NPTA Fund for consideration.
